Danny Ings

Old Team: Burnley

New Team: Liverpool

Basic Demographics:

The former striker for Burnley is staying in Barclays Premier League after Burnley got relegated this past season. While he still has yet to break the England national team yet, he still plays a pivotal role in their organization; Danny Ings has played for the U-21 National team. At only 22 years-old, he still has a lot of time to develop into an impact player.

What Was His Transfer Fee?

After Burnley was surely going to get relegated, it was only reasonable that Ings wanted the move so that he could stay in the highest tier of soccer in England. Ings is a very low risk move for Liverpool, getting him for a free transfer from Burnley. This move coincides with their move to get James Milner from Manchester City, low risk money moves so that they can save it to splurge on the possibility of getting a transfer that requires big money.

What Does He Bring to Liverpool?

Liverpool is only going to ask him to do one thing when he arrives, and that is to score goals. Liverpool had tremendous struggles in the goal scoring category all of last season, which lead them to an early exit in Champions League along with not being able to qualify for Champions League this upcoming season. Ing has the capability to fill that role for Liverpool, having been the only person capable to score for Burley in Premier League play in their last nine games of the season. In addition to that, Danny Ings can keep defenders honest on him, being able to score in a variety of different ways (through the air or on either foot). This will keep the defenders guessing and not overplaying him.

What Are His Outlooks?

The Good

Rumors are circling around that Rickie Lambert, Daniel Sturridge, and Mario Balotelli won’t be returning for next season. With Gerrard already gone, the only option they have at striker right now is Origi, who hasn’t even played yet for Liverpool. Ings can step right into the starting line up during the summer time and impress manager Brendan Rodgers, making him a viable option to start in Premier League play. Ings develops into a scoring fiend for Liverpool, raising their status in the Premier League as a contender for Champions League spot. Liverpool is still a long way away from being a serious contender for the title, but Danny Ings will develop and help Liverpool elevate to their play to be there.

The Bad

One of the previous mentioned strikers’ returns and Rodgers has a tough time rotating Ings into the starting XI. In addition to that, Ings gets an opportunity during the summer to impress and falls flat on his face, not impressing anyone let alone the manager. After an abysmal summer, Liverpool feels it necessary for Ings to get some playing time in order to develop, so they will loan him out for the season. Burnley has been noted as a possible destination but it would be a horrible idea for Ings as Burnley will be in the league lower, meaning less competition for Ings to test and develop his ability.
